Iraj Raminfar is one of the most respected names in Iranian cinema and television, celebrated for his contributions to set and costume design.

With an impressive career that spans several decades, Raminfar has left an unforgettable mark on both the Iranian film industry and the art of stage and costume design.

Born in 1950 in Tehran, Iran, Raminfar was drawn to the world of visual arts from a young age.

His infatuation with painting, architecture, and filmmaking began in the late 1960s, and by 1970, he pursued his passion by studying Stage and Costume Design at the Faculty of Dramatic Art in Tehran.

Raminfar was offered the opportunity to work as a production designer for the renowned Iranian filmmaker Bahram Beizaee on the film ‘Stranger in the Fog’ (1974), a project that would shape his future career.

Over the years, Raminfar has worked on numerous plays, feature films, and television series. He made his mark not only as a set and costume designer but also as an artist, contributing to the Iranian film industry as an actor, scene assistant, consultant, and special effects supervisor.

His expansive body of work has earned him numerous accolades, including four Crystal Simorghs for best set and costume design at the Fajr International Film Festival (FIFF).

In 2000, Raminfar published a landmark book titled Film Design, which encompasses his 40 years of experience in the industry. The book has since become a crucial reference for students and professionals in the field of film and theater design.

Raminfar worked on numerous high-profile feature films, including ‘Suddenly a Tree’, ‘The Crime’, ‘The 40th Birthday’, ‘Cinderella’, and ‘The Persian Prince’.

However, his work on television has also been widely celebrated. Notably, Raminfar served as the set designer for the critically acclaimed TV series ‘Zero Degree Turn’, which was warmly received by iFilm English viewers.

Another standout series he contributed to was ‘The British Briefcase’, a drama that also earned significant praise from iFilm English viewers.

In addition to his work on set and costumes, Raminfar has also contributed to special effects, including his work on ‘Fire Worker’, where he was responsible for the film’s practical effects.

Iraj Raminfar’s career is a shining example of artistic dedication and mastery in the fields of set and costume design.

With numerous award-winning projects under his belt and a lasting impact on both cinema and television, Raminfar has rightfully earned his place as one of Iran’s most celebrated designers.
